2011 XFC Known Heli Maneuvers - Pirouetting- Funneling - figure of eight with reversal of pirouette direction at each ½ circle and skids in or out orientation change at the completion of the circle (Horizontal)
The pilot may enter the maneuver flying either from the left or the right. From level flight the pilot will start pirouetting once the helicopter reaches a point close to the pilot, the helicopter must continue pirouetting as the pilot executes the first circle of the figure eight. For the first circle the skids may be in or out as the helicopter reaches to 180 degree point of the first circle the pirouette direction must reverse. Once the helicopter completes the first circle the skids orientation must change and the pirouette direction must reverse. As the helicopter reaches the half way point of the second circle the pirouette direction must reverse again. The beginning and end of each circle must be directly in front of the pilot.
The helicopter must maintain the same attitude and speed throughout the maneuver and both circles must be equal in size, and round in shape. - Rolling loop - with change of roll direction and forward to backward flying orientation at the ½ loop point;
The pilot may enter the maneuver flying either form the left or the right. From level upright flight the pilot will start rolling in either direction once the helicopter reaches a point just in front of the pilot, the helicopter must continue rolling as the pilot executes the first half of the rolling loop once the helicopter reaches the 180 degree point. The roll direction must change and the forward/backward flying direction must change as well. The loop must be at a consistent speed, round in shape and centered against the pilot. - Piro-Tumbling Diamond - With pirouette direction reversals at each ¼ of the diamond
The pilot may enter the maneuver flying either form the left or the right. From level upright flight the pilot will start piro-flipping once the helicopter reaches a point just in front of the pilot, the helicopter must continue piro-flipping as the pilot executes the first leg of the diamond once the helicopter completes the first leg the pirouette direction must reverse and the helicopter will continue to complete the second leg of the diamond and then change pirouette direction again then the helicopter must continue piro-tumbling and complete the three leg of the diamond and change pirouette direction then complete the last leg of the diamond. The helicopter should exit at the same attitude as the entry. The diamond’s four legs must be equal in length, and the diamond must be centered against the pilot.
