ZIPPY Indoor EPP tough little guy and a real performer Hi Guys
I wanted to offer a very nice little gym flyer that can be very tame when in a high alpha flying position but can turn into a real screamer .It can roll and loop like a crazy thing when called apon.
This is a design influenced by Leadfeathers PbF which in turn was based on a Pizza Box Flyer.This design is the culmination of having built 6 or more of the various size PbF s.
Here are some of the particulars.
6 mm wire cut EPP
3- 3.6 servos
10 gram turnigy 18-2900 motor (a 18-2000 will do the job as well with 7 " prop)
6X3 GWS DD prop
6 amp ESC
2s 360 MAH battery
Orange 2.4 receiver with case removed
3.5 ounces AUW with battery
1.5 mm carbon rod for push rods
1.5 mm carbon rod for axle 10 1/2 inches
1.5 mm carbon rods for reinforcement 11 inches
1.5 mm carbon rod for front bumper 10 inches
In building this airplane I know that the dimensions do not have to be exact but naturally you should always try to keep it as light as possible.
One word of caution and don't ask me how I know this. When you lay out the wing go to the bottom and lightly draw in a center line .From that point measure the equal distance between points for the axyle legs .They are large and act as a rudder ,they must be put on very carefully in order to get them parralel with the center line .If they are not in alignment they will readily steer the plane off course and a great deal of rudder trimming will be necessary.
